Wills & Probate

Jane is a Director and Compliance Officer for Legal Practice and has worked for us since 2000.

She specialises in both residential conveyancing (including sales, purchases, re-mortgages, leasehold matters, new builds and transfers of equity) and Wills and Probate (including Wills (care home and inheritance tax planning), putting houses into Trust, Personal Injury Trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection matters and Administration of Estates).

Jane enjoys meeting new clients and welcoming back existing clients.  She always acts in the best interests of her clients and deals with matters in a speedy, efficient and cost effective manner. Jane regularly receives positive feedback for her understanding approach and quality service. Her aim is to make what can be a difficult process as simple and stress-free as possible.

In addition, Jane enjoys organising charitable events on behalf of local charities. She encourages employees, family and friends to join her in activities such as 30 mile walks across the Yorkshire Wolds.

Outside of Williamsons, Jane enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends. She enjoys keeping fit, as well as trips to the theatre.  A lot of her spare time is spent decorating and gardening.

Rebecca is a Director, Head of the Private Client Department and is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives. She qualified in August 2012 working in Private Client, with 8 years previous legal experience.

Rebecca deals with Wills (including care fee and inheritance tax planning), extraction of Grants of Probate, Estate Administration (by sorting out everything from start to finish when your loved one has passed away) putting houses into Trust, setting up Personal Injury Trusts, preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection matters (such as applications to be appointed as a Deputy or applications on behalf of existing Deputies).

She enjoys meeting a wide variety of clients.  She prides herself on ensuring they fully understand whatever it is that she is assisting them with and to make the process as trouble-free and as stress-free as possible, often in very difficult and upsetting circumstances.

Often when clients don’t have family or friends that are able to act as an attorney or deputy for them the Directors of Williamsons can step in and act in this role. Rebecca acts as the contact for that client (or their family) on behalf of the Directors who are appointed and deals with client’s day-to-day affairs of a varying nature that they are unable to deal with themselves.  Rebecca thoroughly enjoys helping her clients in this way.

Rebecca is married with two daughters.  Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, enjoys eating out, going to the cinema and theatre.

Tracy is a Solicitor of over 20 years standing and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and also of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE).  Tracy works in our Wills & Probate Department in Driffield.  She was Head of the Wills & Probate Department at another firm for many years before joining Williamsons. 

Tracy deals with a wide range of matters in our Wills & Probate Department including Wills (incorporating planning regarding care fees and inheritance tax), preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection matters (including applications to be appointed as a Deputy and related applications), Trusts including Personal Injury Trusts, Grants of Probate, and Estate Administration.

Tracy enjoys meeting all our clients, young and old, and endeavours to make all clients feel comfortable and reassured no matter what the circumstances.  A client’s contact with solicitors can often be at a very upsetting time when a close family member has passed away, when a family member is losing mental capacity, or simply being anxious in respect of putting one’s own affairs in order.  Some clients have family who can support them at these times, whilst others have no-one to talk to.  She is empathetic, patient and friendly and will do her utmost to put her client at ease, taking whatever time is required to ensure that a client fully understands the legal matter she is dealing with for them.  It is her aim to make the process as clear and straightforward as possible for the client, whilst ensuring the highest professional standards are followed.

Tracy also acts as Attorney for a number of her long-standing clients which involves managing their financial affairs.  She can assist new clients in a similar way if a client wishes to appoint the Directors of Williamsons as Attorneys, by handling the day-to-day practicalities on their behalf.

Tracy is married and outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband, and regularly visits her father and sister in West Yorkshire.  She loves her garden (as long as someone else does the weeding!) and enjoys trips to the theatre, and holidays in the UK and abroad.

Madeleine is a Solicitor who joined Williamsons Solicitors in 2013.

Madeleine initially joined Williamsons as a Paralegal working in Industrial Disease, having previously worked at another local firm. Madeleine went on to complete her training contract with Williamsons and subsequently qualified into the Wills and Probate department.

Madeleine deals with a variety of matters including Will drafting, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Estate Administration.

Madeleine prides herself on being approachable and clear, aiming to help her clients through what can be a very difficult time.

Rachael is a Solicitor in our Wills & Probate department.

Rachael has previous experience in dealing with a variety of matters including Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Administration of Estates.

She has an approachable and friendly manner and enjoys being able to offer support to clients at what can be a very difficult and emotional time.

Outside of work, Rachael enjoys spending time with friends and family and going to the theatre.

Alison joined Williamsons in 2001 as a legal secretary in the Family Department. A desire for change and an interest in Wills and Probate saw her move to the Private Client department in 2013. Alison progressed to the role of Paralegal within the department due to a keen interest in this area of law.

Since joining the Private Client team Alison has embarked upon the STEP accreditation programme and has successfully completed the STEP Certificate in Trusts and Estates and STEP Advanced Certificates in Will Preparation, Administration of Estates and Advising Vulnerable Clients. She has experience in dealing with the Administration of Estates and extracting Grant of Probate, applications to the Court of Protection, Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorneys.

Alison enjoys meeting a wide variety of clients and prides herself on her friendly and approachable manner and endeavours to ensure an empathetic approach with her clients who are often going through a stressful and upsetting time.

Away from work Alison enjoys time with her family often on regular caravanning weekends and touring the country. She enjoys reading, walking and trips to music events and the theatre.

Beth joined Williamsons in 2014 as a legal secretary in the Wills & Probate Department and after successfully completing her CILEX Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice (Probate Practice) progressed to the role of Paralegal in 2020.

Beth has a lot of experience in dealing with Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection Applications, extracting Grants of Probate and dealing with administration of estates.

Beth likes to offer a friendly service and make clients feel comfortable and at ease and ensures that she deals with often upsetting difficult matters sensitively and empathetically.

Outside of Williamsons, Beth enjoys spending time with her husband and son, including going camping and holidays abroad.

Hugo qualified as a solicitor in 2006 after studying law at the University of Leeds, followed by York College of Law. After initially working for a large commercial firm in Leeds, Hugo returned to the East Riding in 2010.

He deals with a variety of matters including Will drafting, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and Estate Administration.

Hugo gains great satisfaction working in these areas of law, and enjoys forming strong relationships and working for multiple generations of the same family.

Hugo works from both the firm’s Bridlington and Hull branches.

Outside work, Hugo is the Undersheriff for the East Riding of Yorkshire, supporting the work of the current High Sheriff. He enjoys fishing, rugby, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
